‘This Isn’t Usually Done’ – Pundit reacts to Newcastle manager update from Reliable Journo today

Next week’s international break will give Newcastle the opportunity to make an “important” managerial appointment, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Tyneside club “need to get something in place”.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague confirmed today (November 3rd) that Newcastle top target Unai Emery will reject an approach from the club, as he is unconvinced that the Magpies have a “clear vision”.

The journalist revealed the Villareal boss was unimpressed with the “rushed” nature of the interest in him from the St James’ Park club.

Football Insider revealed yesterday (November 2nd) that Roberto Martinez is being “massively pushed” for the Newcastle United job by caretaker boss Graeme Jones.

Whelan claimed the imminent appointment could “build the foundation for the future” at St James’ Park.

“This international break gives them a chance to have conversations and have a little think,” he told Football Insider.

“They need to get something in place. They have to get this appointment right, it’s so important.

“Getting a manager in at the same time as a director of football, this isn’t usually something which is done in one or two weeks, these negotiations can drag on.

“Ideally, they would like to have someone in now to try
and turn this season around, but it hasn’t worked out just yet.

“This break gives them the opportunity to get someone into the football club and help them out of this situation, and maybe even build the foundation for the future.”

Newcastle are yet to register a victory in the Premier League this season.

They are already six points from safety after a 3-0 loss against Chelsea last weekend.
