Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Joelinton is the worst Premier League signing in the last two years.
The Brazilian moved to St. James’ Park for a reported club-record fee of £40million in the summer of 2019.
The 25-year-old has only scored six times in 77 Premier League games for Newcastle and has been shifted out wide as a result.
Callum Wilson was signed last summer after Joelinton’s poor performance last season and has scored 15 times in 32 games across all competitions for the Magpies.
According to sofascore, against Tottenham, Joelinton lost a whopping 20 duels – the most of anyone on the pitch.
He also lost possession 24 times as Newcastle suffered a 3-2 defeat in their first game under new owners.
“Don’t get me started on Joelinton,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“I think he’s probably the worst signing in the last two years of the Premier League.
“Honestly, I don’t know how he’s playing Premier League football. He wouldn’t get a game in League One, he’s that bad.
“I don’t know what chance Steve Bruce had with that squad of players.”
Joelinton scored 11 times and provided nine assists in 36 games for Bundesliga club Hoffenheim before moving to the Magpies.
The former Brazil Under-17 international is under contract at Newcastle until the summer of 2025.
