That is the view of ex-Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest upheaval at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle confirmed on Wednesday morning that Bruce had left the club by mutual consent.
According to the Daily Mail‘s Craig Hope (18th October), some stars voiced their unhappiness with Bruce’s tactics after the 3-2 loss to Spurs.
The Magpies have failed to register a single win in their nine fixtures across all competitions this term.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Bruce’s position, Campbell said: “Whichever way you cut it, his time was up at Newcastle.
“I think that has been the case ever since the new ownership came in. The writing was on the wall.
“What was going on in the dressing room? I’m not sure we really know. One thing I do know is that players are not happy when you are losing that amount of games they are. Nobody would be happy.
“I think a new manager will come in imminently now.
“But those players who have voiced their anger and concern should not get too comfortable though, because their positions will be challenged as well.
“The bottom line is they have not been good enough so far this season.”
