“Goosebumps”, “Could watch this all day” – Loads of NUFC fans react to £14.4m-rated star’s post

Loads of Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media to a recent post by Fabian Schar, as the defender reflected on Saturday’s win over Crystal Palace.

Miguel Almiron’s first goal for the Toon decided the game in the 83rd-minute, with the 25-year-old Paraguayan tucking home a left-footed half-volley while backtracking to send St. James’ Park into wild scenes of jubilation.

Andy Carroll had nodded the ball down to Almiron from the back post, after being picked out by Schar who’d swung in a teasing delivery from the right-wing as Steve Bruce’s men went in search of a late match-winner.

The club later posted a clip of Almiron’s goal on Twitter with the caption “The passion. The Relief. The euphoria” which was picked up on by Schar, who added: “What it means!”

The video shared by the club included footage of the players gathering by the corner of the Gallowgate End to celebrate Almiron’s first strike in Black and White, which was enough to send the Magpies up to ninth in the Premier League standings and just three points behind fifth-placed Sheffield United after 18 games.

Almiron’s goal had been a long time coming having spurned chances galore across his previous 26 top-flight appearances, including four shots at West Ham and three at home to Bournemouth and Manchester United earlier this term.

Have the floodgates opened for Almiron?
