“Carroll should watch and learn” – These Newcastle fans react to £3.6m-rated man’s frustration

A few Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media, after Andy Carroll vented his frustration at Burnley boss Sean Dyche claiming that he should have been sent off on Saturday.

Dyche was left incensed after our encounter at the weekend, as he felt referee Tim Robinson made an error in not showing Carroll a red card for his foul on Clarets defender Ben Mee.

“I was surprised by Andy Carroll staying on the pitch,” Dyche told reporters, via quotes by the Chronicle. “Just in the modern game, no disrespect to him.

“If you leave an elbow and it’s too far, too high and too late, then the way the modern game is, you probably get sent off.”

Carroll, though, finds it hard to agree with Dyche, as the £3.6million-rated target man is convinced he gave as good as he got at Turf Moor.

“It was just a challenge – I was jumping up, getting elbows, I was jumping up, giving elbows,” Carroll said in reply to Dyche’s comments.

“It was exactly the same at both ends. But, somehow, every game it’s me, it’s always me.

“Fabian Schar’s just walked in there – he’s got bumps all over the back of his head. But, somehow, they kept on getting fouls.”

Was Carroll fortunate not to be sent off vs Burnley?

Our trip to Burnley on Saturday saw referee Robinson give a total of 15 fouls by Dyche’s men, despite no cautions being shown, while stopping play for 11 fouls by Toon players – most of which were committed by Carroll (3).

Midfielder Jack Cork (4) committed the most fouls by Burnley players, while strikers Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes made as many as Carroll, who received one of the two yellow cards shown on Saturday.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Carroll’s comments…

In other Newcastle United news, the Toon are being made to wait over a potential January deal as Bruce identifies a £14m target.
