It was a second consecutive victory for Newcastle this past weekend. Much like the week before at West Ham, there were some excellent performances. Picking a Man of the Match has become a bit of a challenge lately. That is a promising sign that this Newcastle team is putting in such well-rounded displays.
However, there is one name that seems to rise to the top in our polls recently. That is the spirited winger Allan Saint-Maximin.
Our October player of the month has claimed his third straight Man of the Match poll after another sterling performance from the 22-year-old.
Last week, Allan collected almost 50% of the vote in winning the poll. This week it was a bit closer, but Allan has again been voted as the top Newcastle player.
Out of the 2,163 votes cast, Allan received 733 votes for 35% of the total votes. The Frenchman is getting so close to bagging his first goal for Newcastle. This game he came within inches as his first-half shot caromed off the crossbar. His second-half run through the Bournemouth defense was breathtaking.
Right-back DeAndre Yedlin made his first dent in one of our polls with his fantastic performance. He put in a very respectable showing with 24% of the votes. The high-flyer scored a crucial goal on Saint-Maximin’s deflected shot. He was up and down that right flank in what was a complete performance from the American.
Fede Fernandez received 15% of the vote as he took the mantle at the back when Jamaal Lascelles went off injured. Fernandez was outstanding as he cleared almost everything that Bournemouth pumped into the box.
This was a complete performance from the lads, and every man played a part. We are just so pleased with the past two performances and can’t wait for the trip to Aston Villa to see this team play again.
