A lot of Newcastle United fans are delighted with the performances of Federico Fernandez but are unsure of who is the best centre-back at the club.
The performance of Fernandez, though, sparked a debate on who Newcastle’s best defender is, with some fans thinking that it is Florian Lejeune or Fabian Schar.
Who is Newcastle’s best defender?
However, the truth is that the Toon have six players who can play at centre-back and they all are solid Premier League defenders.
In terms of a set, Newcastle have never had better.
See the best of the reaction below.
And in more or less any other era at Newcastle, @pajarofernandez would be one of the best central defenders the club’s supporters had seen.

Been saying it for ages he’s the best defender at the club

I’d have him club captain tbh. Solid, calm & nails.

These Toon fans love Fernandez.
Lejeune is the best IMO. A hugely underrated centre half.

Lejeune is the best cb we’ve had since Woodgate. Schar/Fernandez are class but Lejeune is the best of the lot
— Michael Hood (@mickthehood) November 3, 2019
He’s very good however I think Lejeune is the best of the lot.

Other Newcastle supporters, though, rate Lejeune as our best defender.
We are very well stocked for central defenders atm. They all are actually very good and it’s great to not worry about that spot.

We could play any 3 of 6 centre-backs and I’d still be confident. Mad.

I don’t remember us ever being so well equipped at CB, gonna be tough to drop any of the current 3 and thats still leaving Dummett, Schar and Lejeune out of the side ???? gotta get Willems snapped up as soon as we can too, I had my doubts but he’s turned out to be class ????

Finally, many Magpies fans are delighted with the options at centre-back.
