Newcastle At West Ham – Poll Result, Predictions, and Injuries

This is the lineup we have predicted for today’s match at West Ham. It has two changes in the midfield with Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey coming in for the Longstaff brothers.

We think Steve Bruce will involve Jonjo Shelvey from the start. Yesterday, he revealed that Issac Hayden would retain his place now that his 3-game suspension is over.

Unfortunately, this means there would be no place for young Matty Longstaff who we think may be on the bench at the start of this one. Of course, Sean Longstaff faces his own three-match ban which will begin today.

Despite the issues with scoring goals, we don’t think Steve Bruce is going to make any changes to the front three. We also see Federico Fernandez keeping his place as Fabian Schar struggles with his knee problem.

Injury-wise it’s down to just three this week with Andy Carroll coming back into the squad. It’s too soon for Matt Ritchie and Florian Lejeune.

West Ham will be missing midfielder Jack Wilshire who is out along with three other long-term casualties.

Newcastle Injuries

Florian Lejeune – knee, Matt Ritchie – ankle, Fabian Schar – knee

West Ham Injuries

Michail Antonio – hamstring, Jack Wilshire – groin, Winston Reid – knee, Lukasz Fabianski – hip

The result of the poll shows that 44% of the 1156 total voters think Newcastle will lose against the Hammers today. However, 55% believe Newcastle will at least get a result, with 378 voters going for the full three points.

We are in the camp of those who think the lads can get a result today. A win likely won’t see us climb the table too much, but if we could get a couple on the trot, that would make things a lot more comfortable. We are still only 4 points behind 7th place Manchester United, so there is hope.

This is the stage last season when the lads went on a three-game win streak. Maybe lightning can strike twice, and we can start with a result at London Stadium.
