Newcastle Striker Target Now Being Tracked By Europe’s Big Boys

French outlet Soccer Link have a report that Lille striker Victor Osimhen is now being tracked by Bayern Munich and AC Milan.

Newcastle were reported to have set their sights on the 20-year-old Nigerian international for a possible winter move.

However, the fee the dynamic forward would likely command makes any move this January unlikely. That fee will only rise with the reported interest of Germany’s Bayern Munich and Italy’s AC Milan.

Bayern Munich, who collect young talent for fun, could see Osimhen as a successor to Polish legend Robert Lewandowski who is now 31. However, he’s shown no signs of slowing down with 19 goals in 14 appearances this year.

Osimhen would likely be seen as one for the future at Bayern even if the reigning Champions are behind Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga table. They still lead the league in goals scored.

However, that may not be the case in Milan. AC Milan are down in 12th place in Serie A with only 9 goals in their 9 matches. Victor Osimhen could be seen as a solution to their goalscoring woes.

Earlier this month, AC Milan appointed Stefano Pioli as manager after sacking Marco Giampaolo. Giampaolo won 3 and lost 4 in his first season, but that was deemed insufficient by the AC Milan ownership.

Milan signed another Lille striker in 20-year-old Rafael Leao this summer for £20m. They also bought Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek from Genoa in January for £31m. However, they have only 4 goals between them so far this season.

Newcastle were briefly linked with Piatek last year. Newcastle’s link to Osimhen is likely to face the same fate as with the 24-year-old Pole. Osimhen, like Piatek, will likely move for big money to one of Europe’s elite clubs.
