There is an exclusive in the Sun that Newcastle are in the process of signing 22-year-old defensive midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko from Strasbourg.
Steve Bruce reportedly wants the 6’4″ midfielder in place by the start of January. The fee being reported for Sissoko is £13m.
The Sun also reports that the French Under-21 international would jump at the chance to join Newcastle and that Strasbourg are lining up a replacement for the Frenchman.
Keith Downie with Sky Sports has verified that Newcastle have held talks with Strasbourg over the midfielder but contends that they are only in the early stages of any negotiations.
We heard earlier today from one source that Newcastle have been in talks with Strasbourg over their holding midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko. Told a fee of £10.5m discussed. Club sources, however, indicating that any deal/agreement for the 22-year-old is wide of the mark #NUFC

Sissoko joined Strasbourg for £1.7m in July of 2018 from Stade Brest. This season he has made 14 appearances for the Ligue 1 club. Last season he made 35 appearances in all competitions.
While we would welcome Sissoko as a replacement for Mohammed Diame, who left Newcastle this summer, we would hope that Newcastle concentrate on getting a goal scorer this January.
If Mike Ashley is willing to fund all areas of the pitch this winter, we are all for it. Sissoko seems like he would be an excellent addition.
However, the club must address the glaring problems in front of goal. As long as Sissoko doesn’t hinder any additions upfront, then we would love to see him join Newcastle.
