Newcastle United are interested in signing Lille forward Victor Osimhen, according to The Chronicle.
The 20-year-old has hit eight goals in 12 appearances for the Ligue 1 side since signing from RSC Charleroi for £10.8 million over the summer.
He also has seven full international caps to his name for Nigeria, and it is understood that the Magpies have identified him as a key target as they look to enact a “major rebuild” next summer.
Osimhen is really catching the eye over in France right now, and it’s hard not to be blown away by his impressive start to life at Lille. Eight goals in 12 appearances is dome return, but his all-round game is just as promising. His average of 3.5 shots per game shows a player who is constantly getting into dangerous positions, while his overall Whoscored rating of 7.37 in Ligue 1 this term is really something for a player as young as he is. Whether Lille would be willing to let him go so soon after signing him is another matter entirely, of course, as is whether or not the Toon Army will be upstaged by other interested parties, but Osimhen would surely be a great signing.
