Newcastle have six players who have been called up to play for their countries over the next two weeks. They are the same players that were called up for the last international break with the addition of DeAndre Yedlin for the United States.
Martin Dubravka and Slovakia have one 2020 Euro qualifier this time around. They will face Wales on Thursday, October 10th. Slovakia is in second place in Group E on 9 points after five games. A Paul Dummett-less Wales is in fourth place with 6 points but have a game in hand.
Slovakia will then play a friendly against Miguel Almiron and Paraguay on Sunday, the 13th of October.
Fabian Schar and Switzerland have two 2020 Euro qualifiers next week. On Saturday, October 12th, they will travel to Denmark to play their 5th qualification match. Then on Tuesday, October 15th, Schar and the Swiss play against the Republic of Ireland in Geneva.
Fabian scored an incredible goal against the Irish during the last international break. Switzerland is in third place after playing four matches but have a game in hand on both Ireland and Denmark, who currently are first and second in Group D. We are a little concerned that Schar could be playing his third game in a week when we travel to Stamford Bridge on October 19th.
DeAndre Yedlin and the US Men’s National Team are playing their first two games in CONCACAF Nations League Group A qualifiers. They will play Cuba this Friday in Washington DC. On Tuesday, October 15th, they travel to Canada. This could be DeAndre’s first cap for the USA since captaining his nation for a friendly against Chile in March.
Emil Krafth and Sweden face the same schedule as Switzerland with a Saturday game followed by a Tuesday match. On Saturday, second-place Sweden travel to fifth place Malta. Then on Tuesday, it’s back to Sweden, where they will play Spain, who currently lead Group F. Emil has not started the last four Euro qualifiers for Sweden.
20-year-old Mo Sangare scored his first goal for Liberia in leg 1 of the first round of 2022 World Cup qualifying during the last international break. Liberia faces Chad over 2 legs in the second round beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, October 9th. The second leg will be the away match on the following Tuesday.
It’s just two Eastern European friendlies for Miguel Almiron and Paraguay. First, they will travel to Serbia on Thursday, October 10th. Then it’s off to face Martin Dubravka and Slovakia on Sunday. Miguel scored his first international goal in his last match for Paraguay, a 4-2 win at Jordan. We had hoped it would spark a goal surge for the 25-year-old. Maybe this time around, Martin can pull one for the team and let Miguel get a hat-trick.
