Charnley Must Do His Job Aggressively And Sign Up These Five Key Players

It was an unexpected win on Sunday at St. James’ Park in front of what was close to a full house.

Before the game, we knew Manchester United were nothing like the red Devils of old and so it proved to be the case with Newcastle being the better side and creating the better chances in the game.

But the other reason over and above the excellent, committed performance from our lads was the form of Sean and Matty Longstaff in central midfield.

They ran the show, and Sean looked back in form and Matty – well, he was simply amazing.

And he hit the crossbar in the first half and then scored a beauty after 72 minutes that allowed us to take all 3 points.

And we now have 8 points from 8 games, and that’s not too bad at all.

The game was beamed live around the world, and the spectacle of two local lads making good is a great story, and it puts Newcastle in an excellent light.

That will do nothing to dampen any groups looking to buy Newcastle soon.

Longstaff brothers celebrate Matty’s great goal – sign them up to new deals – quickly

Steve Bruce made the right call on the team with Yedlin, Clark, Matty Longstaff, Saint-Maximilian, and Willems, all having good games – those were the five players brought in after the 5-0 disaster at Leicester City.

Bruce was brave enough to play 19-year-old Matty against the Red Devils.

But that decision was helped a lot by the three-game suspension of Isaac Hayden, who had formed an excellent combination with Sean Longstaff last season.

Matty’s contract runs out at the end of the season, so we need to get him signed to a new long term deal quickly.

That’s also true of his brother Sean who has a deal for the next three years, but he needs a new, improved deal because of his top form last season.

Sean also showed he’s getting back to his best on Sunday.

The other players we need to give new deals to quickly are star defender Fabian Schar who had another excellent game.

And Isaac Hayden who has agreed to stay at Newcastle in spite of his family situation with his fiance and baby in the southwest.

Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is another crucial player, and he is in the process of agreeing anew deal to stay on Tyneside.

Managing Director Lee Charnley needs to start doing his job and get these five players signed up to new deals as soon as he can.

It needs to be before January for Matty Longstaff becasue if he no new deal, other clubs can start negotiating with him in January.

We need to keep our players long term and stop being a selling club that’s going nowhere – except maybe into the Championship again.

Mike Ashley needs to realize he will get a lot more money for Newcastle if he invests in the club.

And makes the Magpies into a top-eight club instead of fighting relegation every season.

We’ve done that in the last five seasons we have been in the Premier League, and it gets really boring, annoying and frustrating.

We hope we have a new owner before the end of this year.
