Report reveals what Ashley’s advisors are telling Kenyon about a potential Newcastle takeover

United owner ’s advisors are telling and any other interested parties that a takeover of the club would be a quick one, according to The Chronicle.

The newspaper claims that the Magpies supremo has very much left the door open for anyone to come in and purchase the club, provided they have evidence of the funds necessary to do so.

However, Ashley is said to be getting bored of talk of a fresh bid from Kenyon and co., with no proof of funds yet to be provided to him.

For now, though, it is business as usual on Tyneside. Having said that, Ashley is making it clear that a straightforward payment plan and a speedy deal is there for whoever wants it.

OPINION

Clearly Ashley is genuinely ready to sell. That is what we have heard coming out of the club and from publications like The Chronicle for a long while now. However, Kenyon is in danger of testing the owner’s patience to breaking point in much the same way Amanda Staveley has in the past. It’s good news for the Newcastle fans who want Ashley out – almost all of them, then – that the owner is telling people that a sale of the club would be a quick deal for whoever wants it. To be fair to Ashley, if this report is correct then all he wants is to know that any interested party has the legitimate funds necessary to purchase the club. Obviously he doesn’t want to waste his time with anyone who doesn’t actually have the money to complete a takeover. That’s fair enough, whatever else you want to say about Newcastle’s apathetic owner. Kenyon, though, would do well to keep any leaks about his dealings to a minimum to avoid potentially alienating Ashley for good.
