Report shares what Steve Bruce will force Newcastle players to do this week after 5-0 defeat

Steve Bruce will force his Newcastle United players to train for five days straight in the aftermath of their 5-0 defeat to Leicester, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that Bruce “laid into” the squad after their embarrassing defeat in the East Midlands on Sunday.

It is understood that Bruce was so angry with the players that he scheduled a day off from training on Monday but will now have them in every day in the build-up to Sunday’s clash against Manchester United at St James’ Park.

It remains to be seen whether or not Bruce’s management approach after he 5-0 defeat will pay off in the long run but having his players in training each day this week could have a negative impact. While the players deserve to be worked to the bone for their awful performances at the King Power, Bruce’s squad is thinned out at the moment due to injuries. Isaac Hayden’s red card at Leicester does not help, leaving Bruce short of options in the midfield. Working these players too hard this week could lead to injuries. Tempers are likely to be high in training and that could lead to a few tackles that are stronger than they would usually be. Bruce needs to provoke a reaction from his squad and giving them a day off to basically look themselves in the mirror might work. But having them in every day in the build-up to the Man United game could bring some rather undesired consequences.
