Newcastle Hand Professional Deal To Promising 17-Year-Old

Newcastle youth prospect Joe White has signed his first professional deal according to the Chronicle.

The attacking midfielder, who turns 17 today, was brought to many fans’ attention when he trained with the Newcastle first-team earlier this year. Steve Bruce apparently had been getting rave reviews about the lad and wanted to get a better look at him.

The youngster has also gotten a handful of appearances in Neil Redfearn’s U-23s this season as well.

Joe White– signed first professional deal today

White joined Newcastle from Carlisle where he had been part of their ranks since the age of 9. While at Carlisle, the youngster had done some one on one sessions with former Newcastle coach David Ballantyne.

This is what Ballantyne said about White to the Chronicle after it was revealed he had been training with the Newcastle first-team in August:

“Joe is a great lad, attitude is spot and a hard worker.

“He won’t be one of the prima donnas who will let it go to his head – he’s just doing the right things. He’s just gone from strength to strength.

“His parents are brilliant, very grounded, he’s very grounded and it won’t get to his head. He knows he’s still got to work so hard.

“I’ve been fortunate to work with over 500 kids a-week for years now all over the north of England – a lot of those who get to the academy think that is all they need to do but they have to do so much more – the extra work they do, I could count on one hand how many have put in that extra effort over all those years, Joe is one of them.”

This is excellent news for both Joe White and Newcastle. He seems to have a promising future and will be one of the youngsters at the club to keep an eye out for.
