Who Was Newcastle’s Best Player In 5-0 Surrender At Leicester City?

Make no mistake about it but this team surrendered today. While a lot went wrong that couldn’t be controlled, the players showed no inclination of being up for a fight. That is just unacceptable and a poor reflection on the coaching staff.

Steve Bruce tried something different with two strikers up front, but it was the same old result as Newcastle managed to get none of their three shot attempts on target. They were held to just 30% possession and did not have a corner in the entire game.

Steve Bruce can’t be blamed for Hayden’s sending off, Dubravka’s goalkeeping error, or a wicked deflection for a goal. He can be blamed for failing to have this team ready for a match again. This is the second game running that the performance has been dreadful.

We now have severe reservations about whether this team can survive this season without some drastic changes. Steve Bruce is trying but just seems to be incapable of getting this team to play consistently. The longer it goes the likely outcome just becomes more clear. This cannot be allowed to continue unabated or else our Premier League survival will be at stake.

We also want to give a special mention to the traveling fans today who were top class. They were singing to the end of the match despite the dismal display. At the beginning of the match, they were all you could hear.
