Liverpool Too Strong As Newcastle Fall 3-1 At Anfield

Both sides came out unchanged from the first half. It was back and forth to start as Newcastle had some of the ball in Liverpool’s half.

Newcastle had a golden chance as Atsu found Emil Krafth in the box however, the result was the same as at Norwich as he fired his shot over the bar. That was a missed opportunity for the Swede.

Liverpool got a good spell of possession after the opening ten minutes of the second half. The tempo dropped some as they worked the ball into the box. Their wing-backs were also able to launch some lethal crosses which Dubravka and the defenders did well to handle.

In the 67th minute, Emil Krafth who was having trouble containing Andrew Robertson was substituted for Javier Manquillo. It was a tough day for the 25-year-old. Miguel Almiron would also make way for Yoshinori Muto

Just a few minutes later, Firmino had a beautiful flick which sent Salah through on goal. He put the ball past Dubravka to make it 3-1. Fabian Schar was one of the only ones to react but slipped in his attempt to tackle Salah.

Fabian tried to valiantly soldier on after receiving treatment but was replaced by Federico Fernandez in the 80th minute. We have to hope this is just a knock and nothing serious.

The game fizzled out as Liverpool were content with a 3-1 win. This was a decent performance from the side. Against a side like Liverpool, you will get punished when you make a mistake. The lads lacked the luck they had at Tottenham as Liverpool were able to take their chances. A few defensive mishaps cost the side, but this was an expected result which doesn’t damage our goal difference too much.
