Steve Bruce suggested this could be the case yesterday when he was asked if Carroll could make his return next week:
“Yes. We need some positive news from his specialists now.”
We are hoping Andy is not being rushed back into contention due to the injuries crisis. It was just last Tuesday that Steve Bruce said Andy may not be ready until mid-October. We are going to err on the side of optimism that Andy has made great progress in training this week.
We are sure some may think this is a ploy to get a better attendance for the Brighton match. We won’t go that far, although it is certainly an abrupt turn-around on the hometown lad’s availability. Let’s hope he gets through this week of training and can make his debut next week.
