Report – Andy Carroll Not Ready To Make Anfield Return, Likely Return Date Suggested

There is a report in the Daily Mail claiming that sources at the club feel Andy Carroll is unlikely to feature in this weekend’s match at Liverpool.

This news is not surprising due to comments Steve Bruce made about Andy Carroll over the weekend.

Bruce gave the following update on Andy’s progress a few days ago:

“I am never going to put an exact time on it.

“The good thing for the supporters is that there’s good work he’s done on the training ground with the rehab and physio people.

“The ankle has had no ill effects. He is not sore and not swollen.

“In the past, that has been the case.

“Let’s hope he can come and train with us for a couple of weeks.

“The early signs are encouraging.”

The report in the Daily Mail also references that Carroll has yet to train with the team. Therefore, if Steve Bruce wants Andy to train for a couple of weeks, his return would likely be closer to the end of the month.

It also looks like the home match against Brighton the following Sunday may be a bit too soon for Andy as well. It could all depend on whether he gets to train with the first team this week as they prepare for the Liverpool match.

Craig Hope in the Daily Mail suggests that the trip to Leicester City on September 28th is a more likely date for Big Andy to make his much-anticipated return for Newcastle United.

However, the good news is that there have been no set-backs for Andy Carroll so far. He has suffered no ill-effects from his month long rehabilitation at the club.
