‘Excellent news’, ‘I thank you for your decision’ – Lots of Newcastle fans applauded decision from shop

It’s been a bad week so far for Michael Owen, and things have only just got worse for the former England star.

The Back Page, the self-proclaimed largest sports book shop in the world, announced on their social media that they will not be selling Owen’s book that is set to be released this week following extracts from the book criticising the club.

As BBC Sport report, Owen claims that his move from Real Madrid to Newcastle was a ‘downward step’ in his career, and Magpie fans reacted positively to the news that the Back Page will not be selling the former Liverpool striker’s book.

Here is what some Newcastle fans had to say on Twitter upon hearing the news…

Owen has been also involved with an online spat with former club and country teammate Alan Shearer on Twitter.
