Callum Roberts, who was released from Newcastle earlier this summer, had a trial at Middlesborough a few weeks ago. It seemed like a good opportunity for the lad born in South Shields as they were coached by former Newcastle defender Jonathan Woodgate.
However, the trial did not work out for the twenty-two-year-old and he was not offered a contract with the club.
Roberts will now get an opportunity under another former Magpie with Lee Clark and Blyth Spartans. Callum played under Lee on loan at Kilmarnock in 2017.
Blyth have announced the signing of Callum on their Twitter account. He will also join our goalkeeper Nathan Harker who is on loan at Blyth.
We wish Callum all the best and hope he can get his career jumpstarted at Blyth.
