Newcastle Striker Pleased With Goal But Not Satisfied With Result

Yoshinori Muto was on the spot this evening when Jetro Willems was knocked from behind nudging the ball in front of goal. Muto pounced at the chance and tapped the ball into the back of the net to tie the game up.

It was unfortunately not enough for the Magpies to get through to the next round, but a goal for a striker is always a good thing.

Our Japanese striker has given an interview after the game with NUFC TV and this is some of what he said about match.

“We played very well but the final result was that we lost. We are disappointed. We have to keep working and keep our heads up.”

He was asked about the team’s reaction after the Leicester City deflected goal. This was his response:

“After that we played very well. We were energetic but we needed one more goal. It was very hard for us.

“I’m very pleased. I’m very happy to score but we couldn’t win the game so I’m not satisfied.

“I have a lot of confidence. I want to score in the Premier League. I need to score. It’s my job so I’ll keep working very hard.”

Muto did not see much of the ball this afternoon but he was often isolated. This was expected as the Steve Bruce did not have many options to give him support upfront.

Yoshinori had a decent game under the circumstances, and scored a poacher’s goal. Now he is just focused on the next match against Watford on Saturday. This is what he said about the next match:

“We need to win. Just focus to win the game on Sunday against Watford. It’s very important for us. So we’ll keep our head up and focus to win the game.”
