Fans are still undecided about Steve Bruce.
Bruce has managed over 900 games (907 to be exact 3 at Newcastle) ) and he played 737 games in his playing career as a center-back.
He was at Manchester United from 1987 through 1996 and won 9 trophies under the expert management of Sir Alex Ferguson.
So Bruce has been through the wringer as both a player and a manager and he has vast experience in the game.
We hope that Steve can bring some success to Newcastle this year – finishing in the top ten would be fantastic – although that could be difficult but not impossible.
This will be his best job ever in football so he will want to make the most of it at his home town club.
But the goal under Mike Ashley this season will again be to (just) avoid relegation, unfortunately.
If we play like we did yesterday we should be able to still be a Premier League club next year at this time.
And wins like yesterday will only help to sell the club to some new (ambitious) owner so we can finally rid the club of the incompetent Mike Ashley.
After yesterday’s fabulous win (yes – we know it’s only one game) we are hoping that Steve will get additional support from the fans.
The support yesterday in London was simply unbelievable from our fans – who are the best in the business – and that will also help sell the club.
Steve Bruce – on the sidelines yesterday – one of his best ever wins?
Here are some comments on Twitter – mainly about Steve’s tough baptism so far at Newcastle – but that result yesterday shows what’s possible.
Certainly, the players seem to be right behind Bruce and the team spirit is still fantastic.
We still have hope!
If you give Bruce stick for a loss then you need to give him credit for a win #NUFC

After yesterday I feel the atmosphere is changing around #NUFC and Steve Bruce. From my point of view, I have said a many negative things about our new manager. I may have to think twice before I do so again. Everything is not just fine after one win. But much better. Well done.

After recording #MOTD2 I sat and watched #NUFC‘s win three-times and did my own bit of analysis. ?
The way we kept our defensive shape for 96-minute’s was a joy to behold stood firm throughout back three were outstanding.
Loved that performance. ??#NUFC

Mike dean had a canny game yesterday. I always have the fear when he refs us.
Thought he done a top job.
Didnt succumb to giving decisions purely as spurs are a “top 4 club” #nufc #thfc— Simon Nicols (@sinicols) August 26, 2019
Just in case we get too upbeat – Scott says this.
Just a reminder that Schteve McClaren won 2-1 at Spurs, the season we finished 18th ?? #NUFC

Not taking anything away from Bruce and the coaching staff though, got it spot on yesterday #NUFC

Great pass from Christian Atsu for our goal!
Alot of focus on Joelinton and rightly so, but I think Atsu was outstanding yesterday #NUFC

The unbelievable work rate from Matt Ritchie.
RT @FordeHaveMercy: I would’ve burst a lung if this was in the 5th minute let alone the 95th! ?#nufc https://t.co/ugJhhjYhV3

95th minute Ritchie sprinting back like this to defend. Brilliant https://t.co/LHBdd8obv6

I think the criticism against Norwich was fully justified, but have to admit we were brilliant yesterday, huge improvement. Still far from won over by Bruce and would rather he wasn’t here but beating Spurs on their own patch has to be commended #nufc
