What Will Be The Result Of Sunday’s Match At Spurs?

Newcastle have their third match of the season away to Spurs on Sunday. It is a tough one, for sure, coming off the heels of the poor performance at Norwich.

Steve Bruce has spoken about this match in his press conference this morning. This is some of what he said about facing Tottenham on Sunday:

“They’re a very, very good side. We’re under no illusions as to how difficult it will be, but hopefully, it’s just the right type of game for us.

“We know we’ll have to play well to get anything at all – far better than we did last week.”

We would also expect a couple of players left out of the first eleven in the Norwich match to be involved from the start of this match. Those two are Sean Longstaff and Javier Manquillo who were replaced by Ki Sung-yueng and Emil Krafth last Saturday.

Sean Longstaff– should be back starting on Sunday

This is what Steve Bruce had to say about Sean Longstaff and why he did not start against Norwich:

“I detected he was a bit ginger with his knee, which was understandable. I had a conversation with him to say it’s normal to miss a game or two to make sure he’s ready.

“When he came on, he had an immediate influence, and we were much better.”

Joelinton has been declared fit, and it looks like Allan Saint-Maximin may also make the trip to London. However, we would be stunned if Allan was started the game. If he is fit enough to take part, we would imagine he would be used as an impact sub.

Tottenham have announced the following updates on key players with fitness questions as well as the return of Son Heung-min.

We’ll be very lucky to anything out of this one. However, we need to see a reaction from the lads. A response is crucial at this point in the season.
