BBC Sport pundit Mark Lawrenson has given his prediction for the Newcastle at Spurs match. Unsurprisingly, he has picked Spurs to win 2-0 at home against our struggling Newcastle side.
This is what Lawro says about the match:
Tottenham are getting used to playing at home now – that usually takes a bit of time.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are still a bit all over the place. They have already lost to Norwich and Arsenal but remember, former boss Rafael Benitez had a bad start last season, and they picked things up.
Steve Bruce has made some new signings, and the fans just need to get behind the team now.
We can’t really disagree with anything the former Liverpool defender says. It’s a fair assessment of the upcoming match. However, the performance is what counts. Mark picked Newcastle to win last week at Norwich, but we were played off the pitch 3-1.
If Newcastle can put in a performance and show signs that they are starting to improve, then we would be pleased with that.
We are also curious to see how Bruce sets the team up. Will he go with a complete overhaul of the system or just make some minor adjustments?
We suppose he could be hamstrung as to what he can do if Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin are unavailable. However, Joelinton has resumed full training while Saint-Maximin is set to return tomorrow.
We would rather Allan not be risked for tomorrow unless he has completely recovered from his injury. Newcastle are likely to have to play very defensive on Sunday so it may be best to keep Allan fit for Wolves the following week.
