Newcastle have reportedly had an €11m bid which includes a 15% sell-on clause accepted by the French club that still could be completed. The issue remains with the wages on offer for the player. The report states that if Newcastle are willing to increase their salary offer to N’Soki then the deal could take place.
We believe that Newcastle have moved on from this deal. On Friday, Newcastle signed Frankfurt’s left wing-back Jetro Willems on loan for the season. Willems seems a better fit for the system Steve Bruce is deploying this season.
However, Stanley N’Soki would be a good fit at left-back in a flat back four or even on the left side of a back three. This deal is still a good one for Newcastle to make.
N’Soki is a very talented player who could be brought in and also would not take a squad spot as he is still only 20 years old. He could be seen as one for the future with Ciaran Clark soon to turn 30 and Federico Fernandez having just one year left on his deal.
Bringing N’Soki in would also allow to learn under fellow compatriot Florian Lejeune. While N’Soki will most likely be looking to get first-team football, we do see some logic in him being signed by tomorrow.
However, we do not think it will happen and are not entirely convinced of the player’s desire to come to Newcastle.
