Newcastle boss Steve Bruce has deemed Jack Colback, Henri Saivet and Achraf Lazaar surplus to requirements, according to The Northern Echo.
Speculation has been rife of who could be leaving Tyneside before the summer window slams shut on Thursday, with doubt presiding over several of the Toon’s fringe contingent, including Dwight Gayle.
The striker, who spent last season out on loan in the Championship with West Bromwich Albion, is again being tipped for a return to the second-tier with the Baggies, although Leeds United are also interested in signing the 28-year-old.
But Bruce is hesitant to lose the London-born forward, and is believed to have met with Gayle on Tuesday to discuss where the striker will fit into his plans, after the former Crystal Palace ace shared his frustration at Joelinton being handed the number nine jersey.
Newcastle are also working on deals for upgrades at right-back, where Bruce would be open to Javier Manquillo leaving St James’ Park if a first-team ready player is signed, as negotiations with Amiens for Emil Krafth could run until the 17:00 deadline.
Colback, Saivet and Lazaar may also be leaving Tyneside before the Premier League curtain-raiser against Arsenal on Sunday, but some United fans on Reddit would not be opposed to seeing some of our fringe players given another chance.
Magpies supporters on the social media platform have been in discussion lately on whether either of Saivet, Colback, Jamie Sterry or Lazaar should be awarded a spot in our Premier League squad, as it is unlikely they will all be sold before the summer window closes.
Here’s what these fans had to say…
