This past Friday, Newcastle had been linked with an imminent bid for Portuguese defender Edgar Ié as a replacement for target Emil Krafth.
The reports from Friday claimed that Lille were going to use the funds generated from the sale of Ié to Newcastle to help in their attempt to sign Trabzonspor attacking midfielder Yusuf Yazici who is valued at €17m.
L’Equipe is reporting that Edgar Ié will be used in the deal to get Yazici but that he will actually join the Turkish club in part exchange this summer.
L’Équipe suggest that defender Edgar Ié is joining Trabzonspor as a makeweight in the deal bringing Yusuf Yazici to Lille.

Here is a tweet from a Lille blog account that provides more information on the reported deal.

This tweet translates roughly translates to:
In its edition tomorrow, L’Equipe confirms the imminent arrival of Yazici for a sum of 16.5M € + Edgar Ié, who should join the Turkish club at the end of August and for whom Lille will keep 50% on the resale. In addition, Lille will also give up 20% of the added value of a future transfer.
Edgar Ié was seen as a possible target at right-back when earlier bids for Emil Krafth had been rejected by SC Amiens. The original news of Newcastle’s interest in the Portuguese defender came from reports in Turkey.
It still appears as though Newcastle are trying to work out a deal for Emil Krafth. Reports yesterday claimed that another English club were in for the Swede, though which one has not yet been stated.
L’Equipe reporter Flavien Tresarrieu, who first reported of an English clubs interest in Krafth, later followed up and suggested that it may even be a Championship club.
No. But it could be a Championship club.
