Report – Newcastle To Hold Talks For Young Serie A Forward

Italian journalist Nicolo Shira is reporting that Leeds and Newcastle are after Inter Milan forward Facundo Colidio.

Facundo Colidio is a 19-year-old Argentinian who joined Inter Milan from Boca Juniors in 2017 for around €8m. So this is a youngster who was highly thought of by Inter Milan when they signed him as a young 17-year-old for what is a decent fee.

The report in the above tweet is from fcinternews.it and claims that Newcastle are set to meet with Inter officials about the player on Friday. Inter Milan reportedly would be willing to let the player go for around the same amount that they paid for him. So it looks like a fee between €7-8m may be enough to get the young striker.

Italian clubs are usually stocked with youngsters and Inter Milan also have Eddy Salcedo coming through the ranks so maybe they will look to cash in on Colidio now.

He can play as either a centre-forward or on the left wing and scored 12 goals with 6 assists in the Italian youth league last season. The year before he was able to score 9 goals.

The report does mention that Leeds may have an edge but only because of their Argentinian coach Marcelo Bielsa. The youngster has been capped 9 times at the U20 level for Argentina with 3 goals.

We do remember another Facundo from Argentina who was part at Newcastle five years ago. Facundo Ferreyra was on loan from Shaktar Donestsk and failed to make an appearance for the first team.

Here is some video of this Facundo who looks a bright prospect.
