Current State Of Newcastle Transfers – Three More Signings Needed

Time is beginning to run out at Newcastle as the transfer window closes a week today at 5:00pm.

So we have less than eight full days to go until the end of the window.

We still need a left-back, a top striker and a winger brought in – at the very least.

There’s news today that Lee Charnley is in France trying to close the deal for 22-year-old Nice winger and second striker Allan Saint-Maximin.

It looks like he could be a good signing for about £22M, which would be our second highest fee ever paid out.

And the top three, if this one is successful, will have all been paid out this year.

Lee Charnley – in France right now

But as usual, the ultra-careful Charnley and company are making signing players look to be a complicated task to accomplish this summer.

We hope we can get the French lad to Tyneside, but there are a few questions regarding his potential disruptive behavior.

However, we fully expect Steve Bruce to be able to ensure there’s no adverse effect on Newcastle’s fantastic team spirit.

We are assuming the transfer fee for Joelinton was around £36M so Newcastle are currently making a profit of £3.5M.

This summer s looking a bit like the summer of four years ago in 2015 when Mike Ashley had a positive net spend in that transfer window.

Here are the incomings and outgoings so far.

Player Fee Club
INCOMING
Joelinton £36M Hoffenheim
Kyle Scott Free Free Agent (Chelsea)
Jake Turner Free Free Agent (Bolton)
Transfer Fees paid out £36M
OUTGOING
Mohamed Diame released Al Ahli Doha – Qatari
Ayoze Perez £30.0M Leicester City
Joselu £2.5M Alves – Spain
Freddie Woodman season loan Swansea City
Transfer Fees into club £32.5M
Net Spend £3.5M

With time running out, Lee Charnley and company need to get a move on – and sign some players.
