Premier League Club Set To Bid For Newcastle Target As Star Player Is Injured

The Sun’s Mike McGrath is reporting that Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe wants to bring in Liverpool winger Harry Wilson. The article is an exclusive and says that Bournemouth are readying a £25m bid for the Welsh international. This is the amount that Liverpool are said to be willing to sell Wilson for.

McGrath reports that Howe sees Wilson as competition for Ryan Fraser and David Brooks. However, there is breaking news out of Bournemouth that David Brooks has suffered a serious ankle injury that may require surgery.

Alan Nixon, also in the Sun, has the following report on David Brooks who played on the right side of midfield in 21 of his 33 appearances last season.

If Brooks requires surgery, that could hasten Bournemouth’s resolve to get Harry Wilson in as an early-season replacement. If Howe already sees Wilson as ideal competition for Brooks, then he may feel even more pressed to get the 22-year-old in now that Brooks looks to be sidelined for some time.

Newcastle seemed to sour on Harry Wilson after Liverpool slapped the £25m price tag on their youngster and stated they would not allow him out on loan. Newcastle also seemed to have the same reaction with Jarrod Bowen when Hull City stated his fee to be £20m.

Newcastle have instead concentrated on Nice’s Allan Saint-Maximin and have reportedly bid up to £18m for the Frenchman. However, Nice are said to want £20m. That deal also seems to have hit a roadblock over the fee as Saint-Maximin played 70 minutes for Nice in their friendly at Burnley last night. He, incidentally, did score a goal in the game.

We hope that Newcastle are still able to sign either one of these three players. They would be very good deals even at the prices mentioned. They are all young and still have plenty of room to improve. Most importantly they will improve the quality in the squad.
