Lee Ryder in the Chronicle has produced some of Steve Bruce’s comments about the hamstring injury Matt Ritchie suffered against Hibs.
This is what Steve has said about Ritchie’s injury:
“We hope it’s not serious.
“That’s the awful thing at Hibs because we’re a bit shy in that area.
“He’ll have a scan in the next 48 hours and hopefully it’s not too bad.
“He’s nicked a hamstring.
“Whether it’s a strain or how serious it is we do not know.”
Matt Ritchie’s injury last night certainly put a damper on the otherwise positive showing against Hibernian. Newcastle are very short at left wing-back. In fact, they had to bring on Rolando Aarons as Ritchie’s replacement.
This is a position that is in desperate need of strengthening. There was some news on Stanley N’Soki yesterday as he is one of five players that have left the PSG squad to return to Paris.
He had traveled with PSG to China and was in the squad that played Sydney FC last night. He was an unused substitute in the PSG victory.
Demain, Metehan Güclü, Garissone Innocent, Isaac Hemans, Stanley N’soki et Azzedine Toufiqui quitteront le groupe parisiens et rentreront en france, les deux derniers joueurs cités devraient prochainement quitter le PSG.

The tweet translates to:
Tomorrow, Metehan Güclü, Garissone Innocent, Isaac Hemans, Stanley N’soki and Azzedine Toufiqui will leave the Parisian group to return to France, the last two players mentioned will soon leave the PSG.
Hopefully, there will be movement on N’Soki over the next few days. The latest news is that N’Soki was not happy with the contract offered by Newcastle and that talks had broken down.
There is no confirmation on whether the offer was, in fact, derisory or if the player’s demands are unrealistic.
If it is the latter, then Newcastle need to move on quickly and get to work on their next left-back target as time is running out in the window.
