The Portuguese outlet Record are reporting that Newcastle are in advanced negotiations for Vasco da Gama 20-year-old Marrony.
We reported earlier of Vasco da Gama’s willingness to lower his £35m release clause. The Record are reporting that Marrony could be available for just £10.7m.
They also report that the player has been offered to Sporting Lisbon but that they are unlikely to be able to afford the forward even at the lowered fee. However, the news that Newcastle are in advanced negotiations could be promising.
Marrony– wonderkid worth the price?
While Marrony would not be a first-team player right to begin with, he could develop this season and serve as cover for players like Joelinton and whoever we get in at right-wing, whether it is Allan Saint-Maximin or Jarrod Bowen.
We really hope Newcastle can strike a deal for the youngster who is reportedly highly-rated by head of recruitment Steve Nickson. Newcastle really have the opportunity to build around an exciting group of young players.
They can also strike the right balance of young and experienced with players like Martin Dubravka, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, and Fabian Schar playing alongside Sean Longstaff and some of these possible new signings.
