There is a report from Brazilian outlet Globe Sporte that Newcastle have observed Vasco da Gama forward Marrony.
Marrony is a 20-year-old right-footed forward who can play across a front three. The report specifically states that Newcastle’s head of recruitment Steve Nickson has scouted Marrony in Brazil and really rates him.
The Chronicle did a nice report on Steve yesterday in which is was mentioned how meticulously he goes about his job.
Here is a tweet about Newcastle’s interest in Marrony.

This tweet roughly translates to:
ABOUT TO LEAVE? Striker Marrony is being watched and has interest from Newcastle in England. A proposal should arrive in the coming days. Marrony has a €35m release clause, but due to Vasco’s current conditions, it should be negotiated to a lower amount.
If Newcastle can get the young Brazilian for less than his release clause, and it sounds like they might, that would be an excellent move. Since they are making such an investment in Joelinton, it may be a good idea to have another Brazilian in the squad.
This is especially true as Marrony fits a pressing need upfront. This is an exciting link for Newcastle and hopefully, there is genuine interest in the player.
Marrony just extended his contract this past February and is now contracted to Vasco da Gama until 2023 so while they may be able to negotiate down the release clause from €35m, it will still take a significant fee to bring Marrony to Newcastle.
He has made 32 starts this season with 6 goals. The other club with reported interest in Marrony is Sporting Lisbon.
Here is some footage of the player on YouTube.
