Hopefully this deal will be announced on Monday and Newcastle can get on to other targets. There is still much work to be performed over the next few weeks in player recruitment.
Swiftness is certainly not a trait of the Newcastle hierarchy when getting deals done. They will have to work though that now as at least five players after Joelinton are imperative for this squad.
Today’s win against West Ham will provide a bit of a confidence boost but no one should kid themselves as this squad is in dire need of strengthening. We lack cutting edge up front and quality on the flanks.
Let’s hope Joelinton will be done and dusted soon. But they really should be working on multiple deals if Charnley can possibly manage it.
A procession of new players in would certainly be a welcome development over the next week.
