There was a report by a Newcastle blog yesterday that Fabian Schar’s agent had held talks with AC Milan about a possible move to the club.
The report asserted that the claim generated from Calcio Mercato journalist Pietro Balzano Prota.
Today, the Shields Gazette are also reporting the same rumour.
Neither report have a link to the original story and the journalist has not tweeted this information, so we are unable to locate where this story was derived from.
However, this would not be completely shocking news if true.
Fabian and “The Mister”– Rafa has already left an unfillable hole at Newcastle
Fabian Schar was one of our top players last season and the Swiss International may well be on a lot of team’s shortlists.
However, he should have a massive price tag set on him. Over that past few days, we have witnessed how much of a seller’s market the transfer window has become.
There are reports that Manchester United have had a bid of £80m accepted by Leicester City for Harry Maguire. Remember when Paul Pogba’s £100m fee was shocking.
Well, now very good central defenders are going for close to that amount.
To fill the void that will be left by Maguire, Leicester City have had a bid of £45m accepted for Lewis Dunk by Brighton.
The market has gone absolutely bonkers with these fees. So we wonder how much Fabian Schar would fetch in comparison to these two fees.
While top English players generally have inflated price tags, we would have to think that Fabian would be worth more than Lewis Dunk.
