We were first linked with Leeds defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips along with his teammate Jack Clarke this past May.
Jack Clarke made his big move to Tottenham Hotspur a few weeks ago but has gone back to Leeds on loan for this coming season.
The Mirror have a report out saying that Tottenham are also looking at the defensive midfielder Phillips as well. They also maintain that Newcastle are still keen on the 23 year old.
This is what David Anderson has written regarding Newcastle and Kalvin Phillips:
Newcastle are also keen on the Leeds academy graduate, while Bournemouth and Wolves are understood to have cooled their initial interest.
Leeds remain adamant that any Premier League suitor will have to pay around £30million for Phillips and they are desperate to hang on to the versatile holding midfielder.
Earlier today, it was reported that Newcastle may have some transfer targets lined up from when Rafa was still at the club.
Maybe Kalvin Phillips is one of those players. It seems like he would be a decent replacement if Isaac Hayden were to leave this summer.
Leeds would have to come down quite a bit on their £30m valuation of the player though. We would also have to fight the other Premier League clubs for his signature.
With our current state, it would seem very unlikely that Newcastle could do that if there was genuine interest from the likes of Spurs and Wolves.
