Newcastle United’s official website has confirmed that four players have not yet returned from training due to recent international appearances.
Those players who will be given an extended break are Christian Atsu of Ghana, Fabian Schar of Switzerland, Martin Dubravka of Slovakia, and Miguel Almiron of Paraguay.
This is what the club has written about those four players:
While those who have been on international duty – including Miguel Almíron, Fabian Schär, Martin Dúbravka and Christian Atsu – remain on an extended break, the rest of the squad are back in Benton to begin preparations for the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.
Christian Atsu is currently injured with a hamstring problem he suffered in the African Cup of Nations. The extent of the injury is unknown but he has returned to England and left the Ghana squad.
Two players that are not mentioned are Ayoze Perez and Henri Saivet. Both of them have not returned to training but for completely different reasons.
The squad will have less than two weeks before their first preseason match in China against Wolves on Wednesday, July 17th.
