Mike McGrath of the Sun reported that Newcastle will go all out for Roberto Martinez of the Belgium National Team.
His colleague David Coverdale has just tweeted out the following of Newcastle’s contact with Roberto Martinez:
Understand #nufc have made contact with Roberto Martinez via intermediaries. An official approach to Belgium could come later.

We hope this is accurate as Newcastle need to get a manager in and quickly. The players report back in two days and it looks like both Neil Redfearn and Ben Dawson will take duel roles as caretaker managers.
Here is what Keith Downie with Sky Sports has just tweeted:
Academy coaches Ben Dawson & Neil Redfearn will assume responsibility when the Newcastle players return to training tomorrow #NUFC

While we, of course, would have preferred Rafa Benitez remaining as manager, Newcastle could do a lot worse than Roberto Martinez.
But the reaction among the fans of Newcastle and others have been mixed as to whether this would be a good appointment and also if he would ever decide to take this job which is toxic at the moment.
Newcastle fans turning their noses up at Roberto Martinez are mad. You’d rather have a Hughes/Moyes/Pardew type? He wouldn’t be my choice but he’s a damn sight better than what’s available. #nufc

#RobertoMartinez isn’t even in the same league as #RafaBenitez he fell on his feet with the #belgium job, had best squad and still couldn’t win the World Cup #NUFC

Rob. Leave one of the best teams in World, and join one of the worst teams in E.P.L…never happening..not in a million years.Newcastle go all-out to get Belgium boss Roberto Martinez to replace Rafa Benitez https://t.co/4Ot0WSv2Pg

Roberto Martínez, Rafa Benítez, Daffy Duck; it doesn’t matter who the Newcastle United manager is while the man holding all the keys asset strips the club to line his own pocket.

i wouldn’t even waste Mike Ashley’s money on Roberto Martinez.

Not a Martinez fan in the slightest but if the rumors are true and the club have approached him , he is not gonna give up coaching hazard and de bryune to work for Ashley and coach Joselu and Christian Atsu….#NUFC

The pull of the premier league is massive working at a big club and massive rewards if he gets it right. Newcastle is always an attractive proposition regardless of the ownership. He’s also on less than a £1 million a year at Belgium so big financial rewards as well! #NUFC

[1/3] A number of reports (incl. @dpcoverdale) suggesting Newcastle have made an unofficial approach to Roberto Martinez’s people. For all the shithousery that has surrounded our club in recent days, I think Martinez would be a good appointment, the best of a bad situation. pic.twitter.com/hwIwEkQV5y

Roberto Martínez might be on #NUFC’s radar, but last month he kept on insisting that he will stay with Belgium: “I want to finish my job here. I can’t terminate the contract that I signed with Belgium. What will happen after the Euros is another story.” https://t.co/CxATiUqkOm
