Yesterday the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope reported of Newcastle’s interest in Burnley manager Sean Dyche as well as Manchester City’s Mikel Arteta.
This morning Jack Gaughan of the same Daily Mail has a new report claiming that Newcastle would have to pay Burnley a staggering £10M compensation fee if Dyche were to leave Turf Moor for St James Park.
Sean Dyche still has a contract that runs another three years. Gaughan states that he is on £65,000/week and that any club that poaches him would be expected to pay the remainder of his contract.
Sean Dyche– a good English manager but he is no Rafa Benitez
This would all but rule Dyche out as a candidate for Newcastle. Mike Ashley would not be one to shell out a fee for a manager when there is a load to choose from who are currently available for nothing.
Whoever does take the helm at Newcastle United next, we hope that it turns out to be a short term appointment and is stated as such when hired.
We are still reeling over the elephantine letdown that is Mike Ashley cutting Rafa loose.
Mike Ashley cannot remain at this club much longer. His time has to be up at Newcastle. It just has to be.
